Three events. One incredible team. More than £2,000 raised for Cancer Research UK.
Mass Hysteria 2026 became our biggest charity campaign yet, taking Portsmouth Ghostbusters and our proton-packed fundraising experience to three Comic Cons across the South Coast.
From Gosport to Portsmouth and finally Port Solent, our team brought together Ghostbusters, cosplayers, families, fans and supporters with one shared mission: to create unforgettable experiences while raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK.

2-3 May 2026
Two huge days of Ghostbusters, activities, raffles and fundraising.
6 June 2026
Our final event raised an incredible £556.
Mass Hysteria 2026 came to an incredible conclusion at Port Solent Comic Con, where we raised another £556 for Cancer Research UK.
Despite the threat of bad weather, families still came, supporters waited in the rain, raffle tickets were purchased and our team kept smiling throughout the day.
We are incredibly grateful to Lisa and the Port Solent team for creating such a welcoming, family-focused event and for making the changes needed to move activities undercover. After a stressful week of weather planning, Lisa and her team pulled everything together brilliantly.
Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, purchased raffle tickets, stopped for photographs or supported us throughout the campaign. Every contribution helped make this result possible.
Port Solent also gave us a moment that our team will never forget.
Yvonne, Cancer Research UK's area manager for the South, joined us and presented Portsmouth Ghostbusters with a framed certificate recognising the incredible £11,227 we had raised since our first event.
That first event also took place at Port Solent on 1 April 2023, making the presentation even more special.
The certificate total did not include the £556 raised that day, which means our fundraising total following Port Solent reached:
£11,783
What started as a small idea has grown into an incredible team, community and fundraising journey.
Portsmouth Ghostbusters has always been about the people behind the costumes, props and proton packs. Our members give their time, carry equipment, build displays, sell raffle tickets, pose for photographs, entertain families and support one another through every long and exhausting event.
Our team continues to grow, but the mission remains the same: to bring people together, create brilliant memories and use our love of Ghostbusters to make a genuine difference.
To every member, supporter, guest franchise, organiser, volunteer, raffle-ticket buyer and person who has donated to us - thank you.
Mass Hysteria 2026 may be over, but we are only just getting started.
The year we made history at Portsmouth Comic Con!
Mass Hysteria 2025 took over Portsmouth Comic Con across 3–4 May 2025, transforming the Guildhall into a full-on Ghostbusters hub. Hundreds of fans, families, and fellow franchises joined forces for an unforgettable weekend of proton packs, laughter, and fundraising.
We welcomed the Southend-on-Sea Ghostbusters and many other UK franchises, hosted kids’ ghost hunts, cosplay contests, raffles, and live talks. Together, we raised an incredible total for Cancer Research UK and broke our own attendance record.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported us, and helped keep Portsmouth ghost-free!

The event that started it all.
Mass Hysteria 2024 was our first large-scale charity meet-up – a day that brought together Ghostbusters from across the UK at Portsmouth Comic Con. The energy, the smiles, and the slime set the tone for every event that followed.
From interactive ghost hunts to photo ops with Ectos and packs, it was a weekend full of fun and purpose. And most importantly, it raised vital funds for Cancer Research UK.

A huge thank-you to everyone who made 2024 the perfect launch pad for what became a South Coast tradition.
