While Tom Spina Designs is widely recognized for its work preserving iconic film artifacts, the studio has also explored original big-screen-inspired fabrication over the years, including an Egon Spengler tombstone created for one of its longtime private clients as part of an elaborate custom Halloween display.

Recently shared to their site, the display was carved from EPS foam by lead foam artist Richard Riley using a blend of machine cutting and traditional hand sculpting. The piece was then finished with a durable polyurea coating that gives it the look and texture of aged stone. At first glance, the tombstone reads as a respectful memorial to the beloved character, complete with the No-Ghost logo, Egon’s name and dates, and the familiar “Don’t cross the streams” epitaph, albeit with the added presence of a gluttonous Class V Full-Roaming Vapor.

What truly sets it apart, however, is what happens when the lights go down. Hidden UV-reactive paint transforms the tribute under blacklight, bringing new life to the engraved No-Ghost emblem while introducing an added burst of color to Slimer, with the iconic green ghost integrated using Trick or Treat Studios’ Wallbreaker decoration and positioned to appear as though he’s emerging directly through the stone itself, all accented by the classic tagline, “Who You Gonna Call?”

Past Ghostbusters-related preservation efforts from Tom Spina Designs have included a number of screen- and production-used artifacts, ranging from various Stay Puft Marshmallow Man heads to a Slimer maquette and a Terror Dog statue.
